Last week we finalized our cabinet design and selection with the cabinet makers.

This is the kitchen design: The perimeter cabinets are all painted white maples and the center island is alder stained with espresso.  The perimeter countertop is black quartz and the island countertop is called oyster (white with glass flecks).

This is NOT our kitchen, but this is the color scheme of the cabinets and countertops

House Update January 22 2011

In just two days the framers put up the trusses, the facia and decking on the roof.  We are amazed at how fast they work.

3D Model of the Home Theater Room

Basement

We’ve been talking about converting the “family room” into a home theater room instead since we’re huge movie fans.  We were incredibly inspired by Alex and Tara Gibson’s and our friend Bob’s set up so we decided to see if it could be possible.  Nick used Google Sketchup to do a 3D model of how we can orient the furniture in the room.

Here is a view of the projector screen, projector in the ceiling and stadium seating.  We’re thinking of doing a moveable platform for the back row that we can store in the storage room.  When we need it can we can pull it out.
